A BIT OF HISTORYThe IPA worked for nearly a year essentially as a group of volunteers, before officially becoming the Illinois Production Alliance, NFP in April of 2004. We then elected our first 21-seat board into office and created committees to work toward our goals in diversity, legislative incentives, membership building, business development, strategic planning, and fund raising. In our first official year, we achieved remarkable results from our lobbying efforts with the state. SB 785 passed into law giving us an unprecedented twenty (20%) percent tax incentive for film production in Illinois. In the Spring of 2006, our third year, we were pleased to announce the passage of SB 2030 which extended and improved the tax credit which will now keep us competitive with other states who have been working to increase their incentives. As we move forward, the IPA is determined to continue our efforts for film and video production. We are also expanding our push for business development initiatives and are working to incorporate other areas of the visual media community into our efforts. Within the IPA there are several committees working together to address areas that affect us all. These include government relations/legislation, business development, public relations, strategic planning, diversity, and our own IPA development and membership. For more information about becoming a member of the IPA and to learn more about each of the IPA Committees, please contact us. We welcome your participation.
