Member Benefits - Why Join?
In addition to being highly successful at lobbying activities to ensure the economic interests of its membership, the IPA provides its members with a range of beneficial services.

Free monthly web-bulletins - highlighting meetings and activities
In an effort to stay both green and SPAM-free, the IPA no longer snail-mails or emails newsletters. Instead, we now send monthly status reports and articles of interest. We will begin sending entire newsletters again if the membership desires, but in the meantime, we invite you to regularly visit the IPA website to check status and issue-related news.

Access to the MEMBERS ONLY Section of the Website – including contact information and use of logos, artwork, and archives
IPA members in good standing have access to contact information of other members – at those members discretion. IPA members also have the right to use the IPA logo to promote their membership. They also have the right to use IPA images and archives for non-commercial uses. These materials can be found in the MEMBERS ONLY section of the website.

IPA Leadership
If you work, or plan to work, in the creative media arts industry in Illinois, your future depends on helping to shape the economics and politics of the industry. The IPA provides organizational leadership bringing together the interests of Illinois’ entire media production community, including industry organizations, small business owners, individuals, vendors, and unions in support of Illinois’ creative media industry.

Involvement in the decision-making process
The IPA is a representative democracy run by volunteers for the benefit of its members. We encourage our members to actively participate in the IPA’s decisions by sharing your opinion, joining a committee, or even joining as a full member and joining the board.

Voting Privileges
Only active, full or organizational IPA members are given the opportunity to vote for the Board of Directors.

Member Discounts at Selected Partner Events

IPA members not only get access to IPA events, but also qualify for discounts at selected partner events with members like WIF, IFP, and MIFF. Check the calendar for events and details.

Access to Industry Leaders

The IPA offers its members opportunities to meet production community leaders and politicians to discuss ideas and learn what is happening in the economic development of the industry.

Advice About Using the Tax Credit
The IPA provides information making it easier for you to understand and use the tax credit. IPA Board members can provide advice and help members make the right contacts to make the most of the tax credit.

Training Opportunities

The following programs are sponsored by the IPA:

“Hidden Heroes:”
IPA was a proud sponsor of the Free Spirit Media’s “Hidden Heroes Showcase” which mentored high school students to create original short films. Films were presented before an IPA-selected Jury and given cash prizes. As a special honor the finalists are given a screening at a premiere Chicago Movie Theater.

Diversity Vendor Summit (now in its 3rd year):
Minority Vendor Transitional Training. (Exposing Minority owned vendors to the ins and outs of production to better prepare them for hiring consideration. Following up from the Minority Vendor Summit in 2005)

Set Building Training Program:
Studio Mechanics Local 476 hosts a Set Building Training Course taking place over a space of 20 days. The program trains students who already have some education in construction to develop a working understanding of the trade and the skills necessary to get a job.
